2025 SPE International Polyolefins Conference
February 16, 2025 – February 19, 2025
Galveston Island Convention Center (Galveston, TX)

The SPE International Polyolefins Conference is soliciting abstracts from speakers interested in presenting at the 2025 event.  The SPE South Texas Section in collaboration with the SPE Polymer Modifiers and Additives Division, the Thermoplastic Materials and Foams Division, the Engineering Properties and Structures Division, the Building and Infrastructure Division, the Applied Rheology Division, and the Flexible Packaging Division are organizing sessions in the following emerging areas of interest:

  • A special 50th Anniversary session covering the history of advancements in the Polyolefins Industry
  • Impact of modeling, machine learning, and AI on process optimization and product design
  • Novel Waste Collection, Sorting, and Pre-Processing Technologies
  • Advanced Mechanical Recycling – Deodorization and Filtering
  • Advanced Chemical and Solvation Recycling
  • Alternative and Biological Feedstocks for Polyolefins
  • Polyolefins in Building & Infrastructure (includes recycled plastics upcycling and PE Pipe)
  • Polyolefins in extreme applications – aerospace, defense, energy
  • Biotechnology Applications (includes single use, clean reactor liners)
  • Flexible and Rigid packaging advances
  • Regulatory Drivers (includes recycling, International Plastics Treaty)
  • Safer materials – applications and challenges (includes microplastics)
  • Design for Circularity and Use of LCA’s

Traditional topics of focus for our sector continue to be of interest:

  • Modeling and experimental advances in applied rheology
  • Polyolefin processing fundamentals
  • Catalysts and Catalysis (includes to enable recycling)
  • New converter driven technologies and applications
  • Polyolefin Elastomers
  • Polyolefin Composites
  • Polyolefin Additives and Modifiers (includes enabling recycling/recycled content)
  • Advanced Characterization
  • Polyolefin Foams and Lightweighting
  • Automotive applications- impact modifiers, EVs, and lightweighting

Speakers should submit abstracts via this portal, beginning by entering an email address below and then choosing “NEXT”. All accepted speakers will be notified in November, at which point they will be asked to prepare and share a PowerPoint slide deck, or .pdf, of the presentation ahead of the conference in February. Speakers should plan for a talk that lasts 30 minutes, and including time for Q&A.

Please be advised–All speakers receive free registration for the conference. If accepted as a speaker, your registration is complimentary and automatic. Please DO NOT submit an online registration for conference attendance.

The 2025 International Polyolefins Conference will be an in-person event with a virtual access to recorded presentations and slides made available on demand. We are excited to continue the legacy of impactful keynote speakers while expanding the number of speakers in our technical program. This year we are planning to include 25 sessions and over 130 speakers from Monday morning (February 17) to lunchtime on Wednesday (February 19). With over 900 attendees at last year’s conference, the technical program will allow for engagement on a broad range of topics reaching professionals in every corner of the Polyolefins industry.

Particulars:

November 15, 2024: Abstract submission deadline

November 29, 2024: Speakers notified of submission status (accepted or rejected)

January 24, 2025: Deadline for presentation submission

While no compensation is offered to speakers, they do receive complimentary registration.

Any questions about abstract submission can be directed to our technical program chair, Preston McDaniel or Joe Machado.
