The SPE South Texas Section (STX) is one of the most active SPE chapters in the United States.
STX organizes the annual SPE International Polyolefins Conference in Galveston, TX. The conference is one of the largest SPE conferences and is the largest polymer conference in the world dedicated to Polyolefins. The gulf coast area is the largest manufacturing hub for the production of Polyolefins in the world. The conference has been in existence for 50 years and has 900 attendees with 60+ exhibitor booths. Those who work on the Polyolefin Conference find it very rewarding, a great activity to add to their resumes, and a great way to network.

STX supports 9 University SPE student chapters in Texas with scholarships, funds to run their student chapters, endowments, and equipment grants. The budget for supporting the 9 schools and other educational activities is currently $100,000/yr.
STX has quarterly subsidized events which include Astros baseball games, technical lectures, dinners, and social events.
The STX chapter is a great place to network and connect with other plastic professionals, have fun, learn and support the industry.
We are always looking for people to join our section
and have fun volunteering.
